Ziad El Ahmadie debuted moving “Lamma el Aatmeh” with Fayha National Choir - Giving Voice to Hope
It was an honor to perform my composition “Lamma el Aatmeh” (When the darkness) with the beloved Fayha National Choir at the second edition of “Giving Voice to Music.” I composed this piece when Lebanese households become dark with no electricity during the economic crises to find light in darkness. The concert, dubbed “Giving Voice to Hope,” was held on December 18 at the Saint Elias and Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Cathedral in Downtown Beirut, Lebanon to celebrate interfaith dialogue, unity, and diverse communities and traditions. The night was dedicated to journalists and photojournalists, doctors and nurses, civil defense, the Lebanese National Army (LNA), and Middle East Airlines (MEA), who protected Lebanon during the 2024 war with full force and love. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Saint Elias and Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Cathedral, Syriac League, and Zovighian Public Office. This concert was made possible thanks to the relentless efforts of our teams behind the scenes during the ceasefire of the 60-day war between Israel and Hezbollah. Special thanks go to the producer and co-director Lynn Zovighian, with Maria Mattar, Dr. Armen Ketchek, and Maestro Barkev Taslakian. “Giving Voice to Music” is a philanthropic initiative by the Zovighian Public Office to amplify and safeguard musicians and music in Lebanon, Armenia, and the Middle East in the face of crises and crimes of atrocity.
